This album moves ealisly between country based rock to sensitive ballads.
I first released this album in 2006 for sale in the UK, to raise money for cancer research after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. I wasn’t really thinking about putting it on CD Baby, but 'popular demand' is a persuasive thing. It’s very different to my latest album 'Fat Tuesday’s Gonna be Sweet', in that there’s much more of a Country feel to this project, and it is intentionally less ‘commercial’ as well as a little 'rough around the edges'.
The album is a collection of contemporary Country influenced songs I wrote over quite a long period of time. Most are quite personal: ‘Palo Cedro’ is a town in California where I worked briefly back in 1990 before moving back to the UK; ‘Beverley’ is about a friend and colleague who lost her life in a car accident, and ‘So Dorky I’m Cool’ was written for my niece’s graduation.
The last song, ‘Just as Long as I’m With You’ was written for my wife, not long after my cancer diagnosis in 2005, as is ‘You Really Know How to Love’.
Anyway, I’ve had a lot of requests to make it available here, so I’ve re-mastered it, added a couple of tracks (I Dream & Goodbye) and given it a new cover. If you bought Fat Tuesday, this might not be your ‘cup of tea’, but have a listen to the tracks anyway; you never know!
Best wishes,
Stephen J Preston.
